Frequently asked questions

What plays do you perform?
Please contact us by email to find out what we are currently offering.  We perform one-act plays, each lasting from 40 minutes to an hour.  We can perform one or two plays for you.

How much space do you need?
We need a minimum acting space of about 12 ft square.  (About 3.7 metres square.)  We also need access to a door that leads to another room or hallway where we can place props needed during the plays.

Do I need to provide anything?
We travel around with props and costumes, but we rely on using your living room as our set!  We usually need to use a sofa (small or large), and sometimes we also need to use a side table and small chair.  As well as the performing area we will also need to borrow a room to use as a dressing room for the duration of our visit:  this could be a spare bedroom or dining room.  When you book us we will ask to be sent a plan of your living room.

How far do you travel?
We are based in Surrey, but we've performed in houses as far as Bristol, Suffolk, Hereford and Birmingham.  We prefer to keep within 120 miles of north Surrey:  we can travel further but extra travel costs would have to be reflected in the price.

Do you only perform in houses?
Close for Comfort Theatre Company was formed to perform in homes and that is our preferred setting.  However we have also been asked to perform plays in hotels, conference centres, marquees and small halls:  in those cases we asked for furniture to be provided so that a "living room" was created for us!

Do you expect audience participation during your performances?
Certainly not.  We act the plays - you watch and enjoy!
